As a parent, the biggest difference at City View Community High School is that my child isn't just another number. The curriculum is built around their strengths, interests, and goals. Not a one-size-fits-all plan, and that has made them more confident, motivated, and excited about learning.

Parent & Volunteer

The City View staff and students' commitment to growing themselves and this unique model is infectious. My teen isn't just memorizing information — students at this school are building things, solving problems, and trying new things. The community and project-based work have especially given them confidence to try, fail, adjust, and try again. As a parent who has volunteered at the school, I've had the chance to meet students, and what's remarkable is how different they all are. Each student has their own interests — whether it's coding, design, science, art, or something else entirely — and they're engaged in pursuing those passions. City View creates space for that individuality while still challenging students academically, including college-level classes for most.

CRCSD Board Director

Those kids are amazing. That program is amazing. The things that they could talk about and interact with adults about their learning, it was absolutely incredible. …the kids at City View are taking Kirkwood classes like they were so proud to talk about how many college credits they had got already received because they were at City View.

Chris Klostermann

Parent & Volunteer

There are a handful of things I am sure of in this world; one is how much I love my kids and two is the power of a great public education. I've been a high school teacher, instructional coach, and literacy consultant for 27 years and when it came time to decide where the twins were to go for high school, City View provided the flexibility, opportunity, and personalized attention I wanted for both of them. Now juniors, I can attest to the care and attention they receive from every member of the staff. In addition, the administration and counselor have worked tirelessly for all students to have opportunities with hands on learning through field trips, college coursework, job shadows, internships, and community-embedded projects. The self-knowledge they will leave with in regards to how they collaborate with others, how they problem-solve, and the experiential learning they have been involved with is second to none.
